Relocating to Atlanta, Georgia Betty Wood earned school psychometry certification at Georgia State University and completed doctoral courses at The Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara, California. She taught sixth and seventh grade children at The Schenck School for Dyslexic children and administered psychoeducational evaluations for admissions to the school. Betty Wood established her private practice in 1989 working with families whose children were experiencing learning difficulties in public and private schools in the Atlanta area. As she worked with the families, many parents sought her services to assist them in creating more effective coping skills in their lives as well. In 2001 Betty Wood began working part time in cooperative preschools in the Atlanta area that offer parents and teachers the opportunity to work together in providing an enriched early educational experience for children, while maintaining a private practice in the afternoon and evenings. Over time and increased awareness of the personal needs of her clients, Betty Wood changed the focus of her practice from clinical treatment to the prevention of pathology in children and adults through personal coaching and educational consultation.
